Privacy Policy
About this notice
This privacy notice describes what happens to your personal information when you visit matthewtinsley.co.uk, the personal site of Matthew Tinsley ("I", "me"), or when you contact me. The short answer is that browsing the site collects nothing. Anything you choose to send me stays between us.
If you do not agree with this notice, please do not use the site. Questions are always welcome at contact@matthewtinsley.co.uk.
Summary of key points
What personal information is collected? None by the site itself as you browse. There are no accounts and no analytics. There is no advertising and no tracking. The only personal information I ever hold is what you choose to send me through the contact form or by email.
Is sensitive personal information processed? No.
Is information collected from third parties? No.
Is personal information shared? No, except with the services that deliver the site and send the contact form. Vercel, Google Fonts, jsDelivr and Microsoft 365 see standard technical data such as your IP address when they handle a request. The contact form is emailed to me through Microsoft 365, so Microsoft also receives the details you type in.
How long is information kept? Email correspondence is kept only as long as our conversation needs, then deleted.
What are your rights? UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal information, including access, correction and deletion. Email me to use them.
1. What information do I collect?
The site has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Browsing it sends me no information at all.
The contact form on the home page emails me your message. Pressing "Send message" sends your name, email address, telephone number if you gave one and your message to this site, which emails them to contact@matthewtinsley.co.uk through Microsoft 365.
If you email me directly I receive whatever you include, typically your name, email address, telephone number and message.
2. How do I use your information?
I use what you send me to answer your message and carry on our conversation. I never use it for marketing, never sell it and never add you to any mailing list.
4. Do I use cookies or tracking?
The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics and does no tracking of any kind. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
5. How long do I keep your information?
Email correspondence is kept while it is useful for replying to you, then deleted. Nothing else is ever held, because nothing else is ever collected.
6. How do I keep your information safe?
I look after my accounts with sensible security measures. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, though, so I cannot promise absolute security; sending any email carries the same small risk everywhere.
7. What are your privacy rights?
You can ask what personal data I hold about you (only ever our correspondence) and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. I will act on any request as the law requires. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
8. Do I make updates to this notice?
Any changes will be posted here, and the date at the top always shows the current version.
9. How can you contact me?
Email contact@matthewtinsley.co.uk with any questions about this notice or your information.
